How keeping cool is making us hot

Cold temperatures are essential to modern life. The cold is central to how we eat, breathe and use medicine.

But cooling causes four times more emissions than all of the aviation on Earth. As the planet warms with climate change, we’ll need to change our century-old and polluting technology, because we need to stay cold.
