Trump’s White House deletes all reference to climate change

Donald Trump’s new administration deleted swathes of Barack Obama’s pet policies from the White House website upon taking office.

Deleted from the website were the phrases ‘LGBT’ rights and ‘climate change.’

A page in the issues section promoted an ‘America First Energy Plan’ that included a support for clean coal technology. The only reference to the climate is the elimination of an Obama-era environmental initiative to reduce carbon initiatives.

The content that appeared on the previous president’s website disappeared when the clock struck 12. A Trump transition landing page appeared, followed by a full update to the site.

Gone are President Obama’s speeches and remarks, as well as his press secretaries’ briefings, and all his old statements. That content was moved over to ObamaWhiteHouse.gov to make way for the 45th President of the United States.

Trump’s inauguration speech has since been posted. The nominations and appointments section is also blank, despite his signing of several documents earlier in the day formally making his prospective cabinet secretaries eligible for a vote in the Senate.

His team has populated the site with a mere six issue pages on energy, trade, foreign policy, jobs, the military and law enforcement.

A section on healthcare – an issue area Trump’s said he intends to tackle immediately beginning with the repeal of Obamacare – was not there. The website doesn’t have an issue page dedicated to immigration, a favorite topic of Trump’s, either.

Immigration is mentioned in the section on supporting law enforcement, near the bottom of the statement.

‘President Trump is committed to building a border wall to stop illegal immigration, to stop the gangs and the violence, and to stop the drugs from pouring into our communities,’ it says. ‘He is dedicated to enforcing our border laws, ending sanctuary cities, and stemming the tide of lawlessness associated with illegal immigration.

‘Supporting law enforcement also means deporting illegal aliens with violent criminal records who have remained within our borders.’

Actor George Takei drew attention to the changes this afternoon with a tweet that said, ‘The White House removed its climate change web page. And the healthcare, civil rights and LGBT sections. Just thought you should know. ‘

The Trump White House technically removed all of the old issue pages, putting up new ones that reflected the policies of the newly sworn-in president.
